Industrial Engineering Technology
Purpose:
This program offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Manufacturing career cluster; provides technical skill proficiency, and includes competency-based applied learning that contributes to the academic knowledge, higher-order reasoning and problem-solving skills, work attitudes, general employability skills, technical skills, and occupation-specific skills, and knowledge of all aspects of the Manufacturing career cluster.
Description:
The content includes but is not limited to providing students with a foundation of knowledge and technically oriented experiences in the study of advanced manufacturing and processing and its application in manufacturing, engineering and robotics, and its effect upon our lives and the choosing of an occupation. The content and activities will also include the study of safety, quality, and leadership skills. This program focuses on transferable skills and stresses understanding and demonstration of the technology, tools, machines, instruments, materials, processes and systems in advanced manufacturing and processing.
Unique Requirements:
The State of Florida requires students to meet a basic skills requirement prior to the program completion. The basic skills grade levels for this program are Computation (Mathematics): 9 and Communication (Reading and Language Arts): 9.
Completion Requirements:
A student must have passed all required courses in the program, attend at least ninety percent (85%) of the class hours offered and satisfied all financial obligations before he/she is eligible to receive a certificate of completion for the program.
